As part of the EU BeeLovers campaign, BeeLife European Beekeeping Coordination and KONVIB are joining forces for the second webinar in a three-year series designed to bring farmers, beekeepers and institutions together to share knowledge and explore practical ways to bridge the gap between pollinator protection and land management.
BeeLife believes that dialogue and cooperation across sectors are essential: for responsible farmers, collaboration with beekeepers can help strengthen and make visible practices that support pollinators, while contributing to healthy ecosystems and resilient agricultural production. For beekeepers, closer links with farmers can create new opportunities to share field experience and highlight the conditions needed for healthy colonies and effective pollination.
From policy and research to action
This webinar will look at how EU policies, research initiatives and stakeholder networks contribute to protecting honeybees and pollination services, and why the active involvement of farmers and beekeepers is important in shaping effective future actions.
A particular focus will be placed on the growing threat posed by the Asian hornet (Vespa velutina). Speakers will discuss ongoing research and control methods being explored across Europe, including nest detection and tracking, innovative monitoring tools and different management approaches, with particular attention to opportunities for local action in Belgium.
The discussion will also highlight the value of combining scientific knowledge with practical field experience and strengthening cooperation across the agricultural sector. Closer collaboration between farmers and beekeepers can help identify practical solutions, support pollinators and reinforce the visibility and value of responsible agricultural practices.
