Food & Feed Safety Omnibus: BeeLife calls for science-based scrutiny
As the European Parliament and Council work towards their positions on the Food & Feed Safety Omnibus, BeeLife is calling for a fully science-based and balanced debate.
In a letter to the ENVI and AGRI committees, BeeLife raises concerns about the limited scientific representation in the recent parliamentary hearing and highlights several elements of the current proposal that could affect pollinators, biodiversity and public health — including longer pesticide approval periods, changes to risk assessment and derogations, expanded emergency authorisations and the proposed rules on drone applications.
BeeLife calls on the European Parliament to ensure that independent expertise, including on ecotoxicology and human health, is properly represented in the ongoing discussions.
